Beach Warrior comes to South Melbourne

One of Australia’s newest and most unique obstacle course events is coming to South Melbourne on Sunday, April 5 2020.

South Melbourne Life Saving Club in conjunction with Surf Life Saving Australia and Life Saving Victoria will run the Beach Warrior event at South Melbourne and Port Melbourne Beaches with Club President Dinah Boswell excited that the club is bringing Beach Warrior to the shores of South Melbourne.

“We are thrilled to be holding the first Beach Warrior event in Victoria on our beach,” Dinah said.

“This community involvement event enables South Melbourne and Port Melbourne beaches to engage people of various ages and abilities in a day of fun, fitness and sportsmanship!”

The Beach Warrior course will feature 20 challenging but fun obstacles over more than 3km of beach and is open to people of all levels of fitness and ages 12 and up.

Competitors will have the chance to run, jump, climb and crawl through a range of obstacles throughout the Beach Warrior course, all while having fun and being active.

The “Inflatable Tyre Run” gives racers a chance to run, jump and hope through a 10-metre inflatable while the “Climb and Slide” will see competitors climb an inflatable wall and slide down the other side.

Racers will get amongst the beach and waves as they perform the “Sand bucket carry” and the 50-metre wade through water.

Perhaps one of the trickiest but fun obstacles, is the “multi-rig”, a mixture of monkey bars and rings over 15 metres set two metres off the ground.

For those wanting to test themselves against the best of the best, there’s an opportunity to enter the elite categories and compete for the title of Beach Warrior South Melbourne Champion!
